Where do we invest?
We invest in companies with disruptive business models that create new markets, implement innovation in business processes, and have the potential to rapidly expand and scale.
Whilst we are sector and size-agnostic, we have a preference for technology and tech-enabled businesses. Our investment pipeline comprises of early growth stage firms looking to raise capital and strategic management support.
How do we invest?
Once we determine that a business is scalable, we make sure that the founders are dynamic and open-minded. In many instances, we begin engaging with businesses long before we consider investing.
We take up significant minority stakes between 10% to 49%. We use ordinary & preference shares, debt and purchase order as instruments. Our approach includes on-boarding co-investment partners that can bring additional value to the investee firm.
When needed, we provide technical support for better governance, risk management, strategic advisory, and business networks.
What do we seek?
We focus on helping our investee firms grow to be leading companies in their sectors within 5-7 years.
We expect reasonable financial returns on our investments through strategic sale or public listing. In some cases, the founders/sponsors may be required to provide us exits. We also seek to measure our returns in terms of environmental and social impact that our partners create.
Over the years, we have established a track record of positive exits from all our investments.
Foodmandu
Foodmandu is the first and leading online food delivery company in Nepal. We invested in the company in late 2016. Since then, the company has scaled more than ten-folds and has successfully raised Series B in 2020 and received commitment for Series C in what is possibly one of the biggest funding rounds in the Nepalese entrepreneurial ecosystem.
ACT360
A.C.T. Three Sixty was formed by a trio of enthusiastic entrepreneurs Amod (A), Cheteze (C) and Tenzing (T). With the vision of providing data-driven marketing solutions, the company currently provides digital marketing solutions to its clients along with other associated services including branding.
Phoenix Capital
Phoenix Capital is a digital aggregator of financial services. The company stated with eBeema, one of its products, which offered a platform for consumers to browse and select insurance policies besides the convenient aid that the platform provided for their processing. The company also introduced Karjabazar which is an online personal loans platform.
Nepal Warehousing Co. Limited
Aimed at addressing perennial problems faced by farmers, especially smallholders, and other stakeholders in the agricultural value chain, Nepal Warehousing Company Limited is first-of-its-kind broad-based agri-warehousing platform. The company is backed by a shareholder base comprising, inter alia, banks and financial institutions.
One to Watch
Started in 2013, One to Watch is an impact investment firm with an active portfolio of 14 small and medium enterprises. The company is also active in various funded programs that aim at resolving environment, social and gender issues prevelant in Nepal.
Alpine Import & Export
Alpine Import & Export and Alpine Coffee provide products and services across the coffee valeu chain. The companies' operations traverse from their coffee estate to coffee mug of their ultimate consumers. The company owns the brand Kat'mandu Coffee and also deals in reputed coffee machines and accessories.
Kathmandu Lanco
Kathmandu Lanco is an green affordable urban housing company. The company's first project is underway at Bhaisepati. After this, the company plans to extend their wings to other urban areas of Nepal.
Eminence Ways
Eminence Ways is the first dedicated cyber-security company of Nepal. The company has been instrumental in raising the level of awareness towards the importance of cyber-security in the country.
Sajilo Sewa
Sajilo Sewa started with offering maintenance services across a limited set of service categories. The company is evolving to accomodate a wide range of services at one-stop.
Incessant Rain Academy
We joined hands with Incessant Rain Studios, their founders and a founder of a NASDAQ listed company to form Incessant Rain Academy. The academy will offer world-class practical trainings in animation, VFX, other adjunct graphics courses, programming and development. Besides the trianing, it will also provide enticing international job placements for promising graduates.
